Special Masterworks fall under several categories, these vary based on weather they are applies to weapons, armour or tools. Each category can be up to a maximum of 5 per category and to a maximum of 10 total
Weapons:
Damage -
Special masterworks under this category directly improve the weapon damage theses include:
- improving the damage die to the next step, as improving size category
- improving critical treat by a step i.e 20 to 19-20, or 19-20 to 18-20
--allow criticals on special acctions (Burst, Full-Auto; applies to all in area) [doesn't require previous by costs 2 steps]
Versatility -
Special masterworks under this category widen the weapons usage in battle
Guns:
-Adding the burst functionality (target a 5ft square, reflex of 10 + half attack roll for half damage, uses 5 shots), Action: Standard
--An additional masterworks in the chain reduce number of shots required to 3
--Additional masterworks in the chain reduces action to As an Attack (allowing inveteracy, or Attacks of opportunity)
--additional step improves damage for Burst by 2 steps, but decrease reflex save by 5
-Adding Full Auto functionality (targets four adjacent 5ft squares, reflex 10 + half attack roll for half damage, uses 10 shots), Action: Full-round
--Additional steps reduces action to Standard, to as An attack
--Additional steps increase area by 1 adjacent 5ft square, uses 5 additional shots
--Additional step increases damage by 2 steps for Full-Auto but decreases reflex by 5
-Adding Spread functionality (targets a cone 30ft, attack rolls against each individual in area), uses Spread ammunition
--Additional step increases damage by 2 steps for Spread but decreases reflex by 5
--Additional step increases range of cone by 1 range increment
--Additional step increase damage by 2 steps but halves range increment
Melee:
-Adds the trip or disarm ability or increases effectiveness by +2
--increases effectiveness by giving +2 (further steps increase by +2)
-Adds Reach or allows Reach to attack adjacent
--Allows both reach and adjacent
-Adds OR additional damage type (Piercing, slashing, bludgeoning)
--Allows AND additional damage type (piecing, slashing, bludgeoning) [Must be able to do all damages type appropriately]
Both:
-Reduces handiness by 1 step, i.e 2 handed to 1 handed to light weapon
-Penetrating (ignores 1 step of armour proofing)
--Additional steps increases armour penetration by 1 step
Reliability -
-Reduces misfire chance by 1
-Increase range increment by 10ft
-Increases shot capacity by initial amount
-Increase Hardness and Hit points by 2 and 10 respectively
Armour:
Protection:
-Increase DR by 1 point
-Increases Max Dex by 1
-Bulletproof (DR applies to gun damage)
--Further step applies against further armour penetrative rounds
Ease of Use:
-Reduces weight category from Heavy to Medium to Light
Tools:
-Adds additional use
-Reduces action required to use
